PLACENTA ENCAPSULATION

Placenta encapsulation is an optional postpartum service offered to support your recovery after birth. This service is handled with care, respect, and attention to safety and timeliness.
This service includes:
-
Placenta pick-up:
If I am your birth doula, I will take the placenta home with me following your birth. If I am not attending your birth, I will pick up your placenta 2–6 hours after the birth of your baby. In this case, you will need to store the placenta on ice until pick-up.
-
Encapsulation process:
Your placenta will be carefully steamed, dehydrated, and prepared into capsules in a sanitary, dedicated environment.
-
Timely return:
Your capsules will be delivered back to you within 3–4 days, along with clear instructions on suggested usage.
-
Keepsakes:
This service also includes a cord keepsake and a photographed and printed image of your placenta as a meaningful remembrance of your birth experience.
Placenta encapsulation is a deeply personal choice. I am honored to offer this service as an extension of my postpartum support, holding your experience with intention and care.

FAQ
What are the potential benefits of placenta encapsulation?
Many people choose placenta encapsulation for possible postpartum support, including replenishing nutrients, supporting energy levels, and assisting with emotional well-being. Experiences vary, and this practice is a personal choice.
How should my placenta be stored until pick-up?
If I am not present at your birth, your placenta will need to be stored on ice in a sealed container or bag until I arrive for pick-up (typically within 2–6 hours after birth). I will provide guidance ahead of time so you feel prepared.
Is placenta encapsulation safe?
Care is taken to follow safe handling practices, including proper storage, steaming, and dehydration. If you have specific medical concerns or complications, I encourage you to discuss placenta encapsulation with your care provider to determine if it’s right for you.
When will I receive my capsules?
Your capsules will be delivered back to you within 3–4 days after your birth, along with directions for suggested use.
Do I need to decide before I give birth?
While it’s helpful to plan ahead, you don’t need to make a final decision until after your baby arrives. We can discuss details during your prenatal visits or once labor begins.
